In 2019, John Carpenter joined forces with Anthony Burch to write for DC for the publication "Year Of The Villain: The Joker" #1. Anybody who reads Batman knows that the Joker is Batman's true archenemy. He can battle the Penguin, Scarecrow, the Riddler and many others but it is the Joker who gets in his head every time. Being a story of many expressions, Philip Tan's drawings are unbelievably expressive as he crosses the fine line between sane and insane.
The story begins as the Joker breaks out of Arkham with Six Of Hearts and finds himself picking up costumes for himself and his new sidekick. Dressed as Batman and Robin, they search for their versions of criminals to bring their own brand of justice to Gotham City and also to the criminals. The one rule is that no one should be killed. However, this doesn't last very long.
Six Of Hearts feels that he has found someone just like him in the Joker. After all, they are both crazy. It is not until the Joker displays his evilness that Six Of Hearts starts believing that they are not alike at all. Having beaten up Six Of Hearts in front of his mother who is tied to a chair may have been the young apprentice's first sign to leave the fellowship with the Joker. Meanwhile, the Joker is hoping that his victim looks for revenge and becomes an even better adversary.
