In 2019, DC published Batman #62, which began with Batman already facing imminent danger. We see a disoriented Batman trying to open his eyes while hanging upside down as if he was a piece of meat. This tale by Tom King would rank up there with the best of the classic horror movies. To drive this point home even further, Mitch Gerads presents the reader with a 70's style gore fest through his artwork. After all, Pig Masks have become very popular within the slasher genre.
Pyg is talking all along but nothing is being heard by Batman. His surroundings appear to be a butcher shop, especially with our hero hanging next to a dead animal. A knife plunges into him as he tries to concentrate on his surroundings. Batman wonders why he wasn't disarmed or unmasked. There are too many questions with not enough answers.
The smell alone is enough to make another man pass out. Slowly, Batman's memories are coming back to him. He remembers that Bane is overseeing Arkham, as well as the whole city. He also remembers finding a wounded Alfred on the ground in the Bat Cave. He heard Alfred mumble something about Bruce's father. However, he is losing focus after freeing himself. He needs to confront this butcher.
However, Batman is in for a surprise when the Butcher takes off his mask and he turns out to be Robin! The question now remains if Batman is living in reality or a dream. The book finishes with a preview of Wonder Comics' Naomi.
