Earlier this year, DC released "We Are Legends" Special Edition #1 giving readers a taste of "Spirit World," "The Vigil" and "City Boy." According to the notes on the inside cover, "'We Are Legends' is an initiative passionately developed by DC editor Jessica Chen with the goal of creating stories starring characters of Asian descent, told by Asian talent." These stories are all taking place in Gotham City, which also explains why Nightwing made an appearance in "City Boy."
Great writers Alyssa Wong, Ram V and Greg Pak are showcased in reprinted tales for these Dawn Of DC inclusive heroes. To see them in their original form pick up "Lazarus Planet: Legends Reborn," "Lazarus Planet: Dark Fate" and "Lazarus Planet: Next Evolution." Brilliant artwork is seen by Haining, Lalit Kumar Sharma and Minkyu Jung, while standout colors are on display by Sunny Gho, Rain Beredo and Sebastian Cheng.
John Constantine makes an appearance in the "Spirit World" story as he is dumbfounded about the connection between Granny Lo's grave and the gate between the two worlds of the living and the dead. Meanwhile, Mr. Hood is tailing some guy carrying plans for an engine with the intent on using Lazarus Resin to restart the fuel. However, the Vigil have all the fun in taking out the hoodlums. Also, City Boy has arrived in Gotham City on a clear mission and it must be more than just returning an antique tiara to its original owner. I can't wait to read more from these and other heroes of Asian descent!
