A Kree Destroyer is heading towards a Black Hole. Well in actuality, it is more like being pulled into the Black Hole. The inhabitants of this spaceship are coming to terms with the fact that they are witnessing their last moments alive. With the pull being so great, there is nothing they can do to save themselves. All seems lost until they start slowing down.
Genis-Vell is outside the craft trying to hold the spaceship back without a plan. Genis-Vell is the son of Captain Mar-Vell. Trying to follow in his father's footsteps, he is still figuring out the process. While his inexperience is definitely not helping him accomplish this task, the Silver Surfer shows up to finish the job. Norrin Radd (SS) has given up his freedom to become protector of the galaxies.
Travelling together through space, both heroes appear to break through some barrier. While the Silver Surfer is still intact, his partner has become the late Captain Mar-Vell! As if they entered another point in time, Mar-Vell reveals that he has no son. To add to the confusion, they find themselves in the middle of a Skrull invasion. A familiar villain shows up and once again kills Mar-Vell. The Silver Surfer is surprised to be standing in the shadow of Thanos. Kudos to Ron Marz (Writer), Ron Lim (Penciler), Don Ho (Inker) and Israel Silva (Colorist) for preparing the Silver Surfer for an adventure worthy of his legend. He was always one of my favorites as a kid and now I get to follow him again through Silver Surfer Rebirth. Can't wait to see what happens after this #1 issue.
