Let me finish my statement above. Superheroes aren't even safe from the humor of Mad Magazine. On Free Comic Book Day, Mad Magazine reissued some of their funnies in regards to superheroes. Somehow, some Peanuts humor was also combined in a few strips. Concentrating on DC Comics, Marvel did get a mention in one of their strips. With Alfred E.. Neuman's profile in the upper left corner of the cover, it was almost like he was poised to say "take this nerds."
Obviously, Superman and Batman received the brunt of the jokes. However, the Flash, Shazam, Black Adam, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and the Green Lantern couldn't escape the ridicule. Catwoman, Harley Quinn, the Joker, Two-Face and the Penguin were some of the villains that were brought to life by Mad's insanity. And let's not forget the Boy Wonder, Robin. It may have been just me but I believe a reference was made to Burt Ward's reputation on the set of the old campy television show.
I didn't expect to find this among the freebies, but I am glad I did. Kudos to Mad for not being afraid of being cancelled by the Justice League.
