In this blog, I am going back to 2008 to take a closer look at Daredevil #110. Ed Brubaker and Greg Rucka continue their piece about the wrongful confession of Big Ben Donovan to three despicable murders involving children. Luke Cage doesn't believe anything about this confession. Cage gets Dakota North, a Private Investigator, to dig deeper into this situation. After Dakota is attacked, Sam North, her father, tells her to back off. The person who attacked her because of her curious nature turned out to be a Federal Agent.
Teaming up with Becky Blake, Matt Murdock's partner in law, Dakota discovers a money trail leading to "Little" Ben Donovan, who is attending an Ivy-League school. It appears that the elder Donovan is willing to go down for the crimes to help his son with his education. The plot thickens when Eric Slaughter's name comes up. While Daredevil is being shot at by goons in a helicopter, someone fires a shot at Dakota and doesn't miss as she is finally cracking the case.
After taking down a number of snipers, Daredevil realizes that he is seriously out-numbered and retreats. Meanwhile, Foggy and Becky are at the hospital with Dakota fighting for her life. Upon hearing the news, Murdock joins them as she gets out of surgery. Daredevil tracks down her shooter and gets Donovan's son to go to Sing Sing to confront his dad, which finally breaks the father down to claiming his innocence. While Sam North is upset about his daughter fighting for her life, he doesn't seem to totally escape the web he is currently caught up in. The good news is that Dakota wakes up but isn't out of the woods just yet. Artists Michael Lark and Stefano Gaudiano, along with Matt Hollingsworth's dark color work, present the story in an infectious fashion.
