Any follower of the Marvel Universe realizes that this universe can be quite ginormous! Within this universe, there can be many Earths, as well as Universes. Sometimes, this can be very confusing, especially when someone who is supposed to be dead resurfaces. Mutants are involved in many scenarios, including my latest pickup of Knights Of X #001. I have noticed a lot of topnotch artwork lately and this issue is no exception with the contributions of Bob Quin and Erick Arciniega.
Combining knights and mutants into storylines can lead to some very complex plots, especially within the X-Men world. Tini Howard handles her difficult job well, as her story has to launch a new book as well as continue some of the events that have already taken place within the pages of Black Knight and Excalibur. The Starlight Citadel is now known as the Lunatic Citadel, which is ruled by Merlyn and his henchman, King Arthur. Merlyn happens to despise Mutants.
With the gates to Krakoa being closed, any Mutants living freely outside of Krakoa basically has to hide from possible death. Captain Britain needs to find a way into Krakoa, much to the dismay of the selfish Lady Saturnyne, to assemble a noble group of fighters. Saturnyne is too dense to realize that this step is necessary for Saturnyne to return to her rightful place on the throne.
These Knights Of X need to find the Siege Perilous, even though they don't yet realize this what they are searching for. King Arthur needs to snatch this gem to protect his son. However, Mordred is still out there with neither side being able to trust him. If you understand all this, you are doing better than me.
