Ah, the plot thickens in Bill Willingham's Batman Vs. Bigby: A Wolf In Gotham Book Five on the DC Black Label. Bigby and Batman are now working together even though there is no trust between them. Batman has Bookworm dead to rights and as our hero begins to lift our villain there is something different about Bookworm. He possesses a strength that is not typical of this villain. Sacrificing some of his own pawns, Bookworm's power lays out Batman and Bigby. However, Batman is dead. As the Robins surround our caped crusader, they try to revive him. Bigby is pretty beaten up himself.
Not wanting the cops to be involved, they drag Batman and Bigby back to the Batcave where they are hoping there is enough of their clinic left to save the man bat, as he had died on the table three times already. The explosion caused by Bigby in a previous issue has wiped out many of Batman's tools and rooms. As for Bookworm's strength, his body is only being used as a host for something way more evil and powerful.
Batman finally lets Bigby know that he knows the truth about Detective Molly Grace. Alfred is not happy that Bruce Wayne cut his rest short on the thirteenth day after being revived. The battle with Batman also took a lot out of Bookworm, leaving his uninvited visitor to believe that he should have used a stronger body. Also, this entity knows that he won't be safe until he is alive again. He has the book, so now he must get to work.
