Six years ago, Wilson was on a mission. He was in search of the Chosen Ones. He is trying to fulfill a prophecy. Some of these people know they are special and have used their abilities against evil and others have no fucking clue. Ava Granetstein claims to only know that she was sent an invitation by email to come to a Chinese Restaurant. She also claims to be a fan of the Chosen Ones.
One of them gets recognized in a store by shoppers and seems reluctant to get involved with conversation. He was chosen as a baby, but is now trying to live his life as a normal adult. He literally runs away from these intrusive customers. Meanwhile, Dorothy has been killing demons for eleven years. Refusing to recognize them as demons, her partner, Barbara, has a different opinion on the subject.
Novus is having a different problem. Her business partner tries to unsuccessfully blackmail her into selling her shares of the company to him. She lets him talk for awhile before informing him that the pictures in his possession are those of her and her wife. Doctor Jamax is tracked down at a food truck he is working at until Thrace attempts to kick the shit out of Wilson.
At the Chinese Restaurant, Wilson reveals that Robert Stevenson of Hawaii has just been born and he is the son of Satan. Frustrating Wilson, they collectively agree to wait until the kid grows up to take action. It is now only six years later and all hell has broken loose. Brian Michael Bendis and Jacob Edgar conceptualized this entire idea for The Ones #1, published by Dark Horse Comics. It is an interesting story that can have many legs. I love the sharp colors of K.J. Diaz and the lettering of Joshua Reed. Released at the end of last year, I believe this one can become a long-running hit!
