I decided to go back in time to when the pages of Marvel weren't as glossy but the artwork was still topnotch! Legendary Penciller Chris Bachalo was front and center for Generation X #22, which dates back to December of 1996. It must have been a blast to trick-or-treat as a kid at Stan Lee's house back in the day, as he must have been the one to label Bachalo as "The Count." "Spooky" Scott Lobdell wrote this entertaining piece entitled "All Hallows Eve." Al "Vampire" Vey and Scott "Holy" Hanna handled the inking duties, while "Scary" Steve Buccellato took on the coloring task.
It appears that Rutland Vermont hosts one of the largest Halloween Shindigs. Banshee and Husk are keeping their eyes on Franklin, Leech and Artie in their quest for candy. Franklin is still dealing with the loss of his dad, Reed Richards. Meanwhile, a group of older juveniles are making their way towards Xavier's School For Gifted Youngsters armed with eggs, toilet paper and soap. If you think about it, curtailing Fright Night over the years could have helped with the toilet paper shortage during the pandemic!
These young hoodlums have no idea what is waiting for them once they drive onto these grounds. They are greeted by Chamber, M, Jubilee and Skin in very horrific ways. At the same time, Emma Frost, co-leader of Generation X, is dealing with her own visitor, Nightmare. Actually there to ask for Frost's help, Nightmare explains that the distraction of dealing with Dr. Strange presented a window of opportunity for someone to enter his realm. After explaining that this invading woman won't be able to receive help from her, Frost drifts off to what she believes is a nightmare. Unfortunately, her nightmare was a look into the future!
