Hi, guys!
Today it's weekend so I decided to make a more relaxed post and talk about my favorite comics creators:) And it will not be Marvel or DC, cause everyone know them anyway, but about authors that are known in more narrow circles, but become more and more famous every day.
Plus it's a new format for my blog. I wrote this post, and then filmed nearly the same, so you can choose which format you like more (don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube, by the way;).
I enjoy author's comic books, they always have a huge imprint of the creator's personality and it makes them even more interesting. By the way I had some attempts to make comic strips myself, and I will add them in the end of this post (but consider that when I was drawing them I yet couldn't draw at all).
So, let's jump to my favorite comics strips creators.
I want to start with Marzi Wilson and her "Introvert doodles". I ordered this on Amazon and you can do the same (and it's not an advertising, I really recommend it from pure heart). Being an introvert myself I enjoy reading comics created by introverts about introverts, cause I immediately feel related. We all need or special tribe for self-identity, so...:) Marzi creates short strips about herself, and it feels like a good friend is telling you his stories. In the foreword it's said that maybe if you're an extrovert your friend or family member gave you this book to help you understand them more, and by the way it's a great idea. I wish I had a huge pile of these to give everyone instead of explaining:)
Also Marzi created this "Introvert activity book" which is kind of a creative diary (one day I will make a separate video about my creative diaries cause they really deserve that). I yet haven't started using it, but I definitely will, it's awesome. Her Instagram.
The second author I want to talk about is Sarah Andersen. She also is one of my favorites, and she also creates comic strips about herself and her rabbit, and now about her cat as well since she has one. In her strips she shows different awkward situations, funny ones and stressful as well. Dozens of times I said "me too" while reading this. At the moment I have two comic books, "Adulthood is a myth" and "Big mushy happy lump", and they both are simply awesome. Sarah's Instagram.
My third star for this post is Lise Myhre and her worldwide known comics "Nemi". This is about a goth girl from Norway. I don't drink or smoke like she does, but she's a complete child inside and this is where I relate again. As I know at first these strips were coming out in a newspaper, and Lise creates them for over 10 years, and then they became books, here I have two of them and dream to have all that exist.
The last but not the least is Debbie Tung and her "Quiet girl in a noisy world". It's a black and white comic book which tells an introvert student girl everyday stories, so here I relate again.
So, these were my top-4, but I also read comic books of other indi authors, and will tell about them in another comic books review. Until then - here are my own old comic strips, even despite the fact that I yet couldn't draw normally I hope they'll make you smile:)
See you in the next post!
Love, Inber
