The Punisher
This week for Fan Art Friday I did some Punisher fan art. This last year I have fallen in love with this character. From his story arc in the Netflix daredevil series, and his appearance in the Civil War comics (which I read for the first time last year) I have just seen an extremely flawed character with unbreakable integrity.
There is a specific scene in the comics where the Punisher shows more integrity for what is right than Captain America *the poster child for good. At one point Captain America is just beating the Punisher yelling " FIGHT YOU COWARD ", and he refuses to fight back, saying "not against you". There is something about his black and white view of the world, good and bad, that resonates with me. On one hand he will kill a criminal in an instant, but on the other he refuses to hurt an innocent even when provoked.
The other aspect that I love is his character as portrayed by Jon Bernthal in the Daredevil Netflix series in season 2. He brings such a great life to Frank Castle, and makes you feel for him, even as he is killing countless people. Episode 4 "Penny and a dime" is probably one of the best 40 minutes of cinema I have ever seen. I am sure I don't have to tell you how excited I am for the Punisher series coming to Netflix in about 2 weeks.
This was done with mixed media, charcoal and acrylic paint. The bullets are 22LR rounds that I added for that extra touch
