This edition of Appetite for Distraction: Second Helpings! is like a time capsule, transporting us back to those years filled with movies such as I Am Legend, 28 Weeks Later, Grindhouse, Zombieland, Surf's Up, Happy Feet, March of the Penguins, and Madagascar... Can you blame the Imp for wanting to cash in on the trends?
...and the trend is going strong to this day...
Fun facts!
- Night of the Living Dead, the 1968 film by George Romero, was the first movie to show a physical cause for zombies. Previously they'd always been animated by black magic or voodoo.
- In some penguin species, the male penguin incubates the eggs while the female leaves to hunt for weeks at a time. Because of this, pudgy males—with enough fat storage to survive weeks without eating—are most desirable. Get fat and stay at home... no wonder the Imp likes penguins...
- This strip originally appeared a year before The Walking Dead hit television. More importantly it was 6 years prior to Fear the Walking Dead... Rumor is that the show writers were fans of Appetite for Distraction. (At least, that's what the rumor will be if you spread around this tidbit for the Imp...)
