Hey everyone!
Finally been having some more time to post lately, aside from spending time talking trash in our Discord which has become way too entertaining lately and dangerously procrastinative if that's even a word, it got that red line under it so I'm assuming it isn't but as long as you know what I mean...
I've been quite busy working on a few projects and trying to come up with better solutions to current ones, not necessarily solutions but also improvements that will have the most efficiency on Hive's diverse communities, activity and retention of it along with future onboarding. will be providing some monthly stats soon to the newest OCD Community Incubation Update and for the one after that we'll be adding activity stats as well which will also be quite important to take a look at as subscriber count along doesn't say much although its nice to see it growing constantly - although not as nice for our outgoing delegations towards the communities 😅, just kidding, we know its not much but it's something to help the communities grow along with curating the curation reports some like to do and share with their moderators and curators and at the same time get their votes in first on content they then pass through us for more rewards and to keep a quality trending. Now if only some bigger accounts wouldn't just waltz in and throw votes on content at 0 rewards to maximize curation it would be even better, but maybe at some point we'll improve on the EIP even more! For now it's a lot better than it used to be pre-EIP.
We recently did an ENGAGE giveaway to some very engaging users and are hoping they'll use them well to encourage others to engage more too. For those of you who don't know what this token does, it basically let's you distribute ENGAGE tokens through a comment command as long as you are holding more than 1001 of them in your Hive-Engine wallet. The idea is that since comment curation is kind of disincentivized lately, not just lower post rewards and curation returns but also since there are so few consumers in general to stack votes on comments to get them past the tax curve. I see it as something that's just a now problem and with a great distribution of Hive and a lot more users we won't have issues getting deserving comments past the tax curve similar to how we do with posts if there's like 50-200 readers and all throwing small votes at them. We just need to get there to that active userbase. Other than that giving deserving comments tokens that can be traded for Hive, also runs a curation trail bot that will give the comments a reward in a diverse variety of tokens and also hive. If you'd like to assist that trail even though it won't really make the tax curve but you want to help engagement, feel free to trail the
account through comment voting. Hive.vote probably allows for it.
Getting back to communities, we'll also be giving community leaders and curators in our incubation program ENGAGE so they can raise the incentivize more engagment in their communities and it will be interesting to see the increase with stats after a while provided by .
Now the next thing we'd want to work on to get more people to use said communities and encourage users from the communities and leaders is to incentivize onboarding. We have a few ideas already planned out but a lot of it also relies on the finalizement of which currently is close to being ready and just a couple more finetuning required. Many have been asking me what is up with poshtoken and a tl;dr is that more important matters came up that would serve Hive well and the devs focused on that for now which I had nothing against but would be great to get it done some time soon so we can continue building on top of it and combine a lot of incentives together.
To explain a little of what I'm thinking/planning you might need a quick "what is poshtoken" or more importantly what is it meant to accomplish.
For now poshtoken is just a centralized point system which
- scans Twitter for tweets with #/$hive and links to hive.blog, peakd, 3speak and a few other front-ends
- counts likes, comments and retweets to give users points depending on them
- distributes 100 tokens daily to everyone participating as long as they have registered, unregistered twitter accounts have their tokens burned
So all you need to know to get going is basically to check out , there's a reblog there from my account explaining how to easily register (comment under the
account your registration), the registration works and distribution works, only thing that doesn't work right now is the daily statistic posts which were meant to reward the dev for his work since poshtoken has no ninjamine/dev/creator fund to make it as fair as possible thus we'll be relying on the rewardpool to fund work towards it. We originally wanted to make a proposal but for now it seemed that it wasn't that expensive to be worth the time and effort to write a proposal and get it shared with the stakeholders.
Some things that aren't obvious at first read about poshtoken is that it will incentivize anyone to share hive links onto Twitter, whether you're an author or not, you'll be able to earn tokens from sharing other people's work as well. This could mean that anyone from Twitter who isn't even on Hive, could create a Hive account, start sharing their favorite posts onto Twitter and earn poshtokens for it. At the same time recently added referral links for sharing any post which means that someone who's really good at networking and has a lot of traffic/eyes on their Twitter could potentially earn both poshtokens (value to be decided once a real token is created and airdropped) and referral rewards from new users signing up through their link, posting, getting curated and giving the referrer a beneficiary cut.
A lot of pieces of the puzzle are coming together so I hope everyone is as excited about the future of Hive as I am. Along with the new hardfork that will optimize the chain in so many ways I didn't even think were possible, the sky will be the limit of what we'll be able to do here. Once things start rolling Hive has a tendency to compound not just in how stake is earned but also in FOMO and attention and it's going to feel good to not be one of the chains that'll run into scaling issues on the next bull run like so many are having right now before the run has even properly started if not them causing it to stifle.
Okay, this post is probably already long enough. For ending words I'm encouraging community leaders to create their own Twitter accounts the same way OnChainArt and a few others have where they can share daily great posts and grow a following. It'll make it a lot easier to utilize all these incentives better later on if you're already starting out with a base following and of course make sure to also use other tags relevant to your community and the posts you're sharing, just tagging #hive will get you but not many content creators outside of Hive and not many referrals or traffic neither.
Hope ya'll are as excited as I am, make sure to free up some liquid Hive cause you never know when a pump is around the corner if you wanna speculate on some trading to get yourself more Hive. The inflation is pretty constant and steady at this point so I'm assuming many will be looking at other ways to grow their stake in the near future and if anything providing the exchanges with more liquidity is not a bad thing.
