So I found the site steemit.deadfollowers.info which gives you an idea of how many ACTIVE followers you actually have. Here's a screenshot of my own stats:

Take aways? I'm not really sure. Seems like a bunch of people sign up and stop using Steem, but I have no clue the retention rates of other social media sites so nothing to compare it to. I was a lurker for a while and only active for a short time. Also my follower number is really small compared to the other users.
