People are investments. In our investing ventures, we almost always overlook the biggest and most important “procurement” we make. However, just like any other tradable equity, people can be either assets or liabilities.
This is another overlooked concept. We enjoy true friendships both for what we bring to it, and what we get out of it. In its purest context, friendship is mutually beneficial, and thus, all parties are found investing deeply into the relationship.
But in the real world, not everyone gives as much as they take. More often than not, we see people who take excessively, while giving the absolute minimum, if at all.
Although a friendship can survive being carried by one, eventually, equilibrium must be found.
In my personal journey, I discovered that everything starts with the mind. We choose the trajectory our lives will take. We even choose the quality of our lives, even down to the health of our individual cells.
Contrary to conventional wisdom, good health doesn’t start with pharmaceuticals. It doesn’t even start with eating vegetables, and avoiding processed foods. Surely, these are good pursuits, but everything starts with our desire to be healthy – all other things will follow suit with our determination.
That’s why every morning, I read the Word of God, and I ask the Holy Spirit to give me the strength to overcome today’s challenges.
I embrace health, love, courage, and I become those very things.
But some people spend too much time dying. Imagine if they focused their efforts on living!
I had to make the difficult, but necessary decision to drop someone from my blog community. At first glance, the decision may appear cold. This person struggles with a litany of life-threatening diseases, something to which I can’t relate. I patiently listened to the accounts of pain and suffering.
But at a certain point, I just had enough. This person began to fill my own life with fear and trepidation. I imagined for myself symptoms that prior to “meeting” this individual on my blog, I never gave a second thought.
I realized that, should I continue listening to the diatribe, I too would end up bedridden.
The problem is that this afflicted person has an extremely pessimistic and dark, almost macabre, attitude. But by doing so, this patient is stymieing the body’s natural healing process. According to medical research, our cells and organs rejuvenate and regenerate themselves, but only when we are relaxed, and not under duress.
In other words, this person was spending more time dying, rather than focusing precious energy on living.
I, however, will choose to live.
I embrace life, and that only starts with positive thinking. If you think like a loser, you’ll end up being a loser. Think like a winner, and you’ll be a winner. The journey isn’t guaranteed to be easy, but where the mind and heart goes, so too does the body.
Again, this is why I spend every morning reading the Word and praying to Jesus Christ. It’s not that I’m trying to win favor for supporting Christianity. In contrast, I’m doing this to refresh my mind, give myself a new perspective. That’s one of the reasons why today is a new day of grace.
Even in our darkest hour, we have hope. But we have to choose to embrace that hope. This only happens with positive thinking, with a genuine, faithful desire to live.
