If I make it till around 6 pm today, I will have lived a full 67 years. It's amazing because I wasn't sure I would make it to 40, I don't know why. Obviously (and thankfully) it wasn't an omen. LOL !!!!
My brother Mark had invited me to go with him to his fav BBQ place that is about an hours drive from here tonight for my birthday supper. After the weather prediction had turned out so badly for today, we decided to skip it today and try for it tomorrow. If all goes well, my sisters, Mom and maybe a sister's husband will meet at my brother's house, all jump into his van and off we will go ! It will be fun, good food, good family time.
I knew I wanted to put up a little post today, but I had no idea what photos I would use to go along with whatever birthday drivel I chose to tell. I really didn't expect any presents and the wind and rain have already begun, so I wasn't going across the street to the mailbox either to see if there was any cards to feature.
Then one of my sister's messaged me and said she had left a bouquet of flowers on my front porch. I immediately jumped up to go out and get them before they could blow away. What a totally wonderful surprise ! Aren't sisters the best thing ever ?
No more wondering what photos to go with the birthday post !
The photos are a little yellow'sih, since it is totally gray outside, there is no good natural light to bring out all the beautiful colors..... but so be it.
They certainly are like a beautiful pop of colorful sunshine for a rainy day.
Such a fun variety of flowers too.
I don't know why it is like that with a bouguet of flowers. Why is that so special? How did we adopt the notion that they were good for celebrations of all kinds? I don't know the answer to that, but I am conditioned to feel they are special all the same, so they are !
As a little funny here for the end, before I got flowers I had put the word "birthday" in the search in my photos. This tiny piece of abstract art came up with all the other photos in the search. I painted it one time along with some other really small paintings to scatter out in the wild for people to find randomly. I'm not sure why the photo program pulled it unless it thought it was birthday candles. I kind of get it....I think.
So, although the fate of the day is uncertain, I am about to mosey to the kitchen to see what happens. I am thinking on making myself some birthday snickerdoodles and hope if it is written that the power will fail, maybe I will get at least some of them cooked. If I am lucky and get through it, that will be my celebration of myself. What better way to add a little more sunshine to my day than with some homemade cookies?
I hope you have a wonderful day .... or evening... wherever you might be.
