Monday! Again ! I am pretty glad the work part of it is over!
When I was a child, you know, 100 years ago, one of the things that some girls loved was a minture porcelain tea set. My older sister got one and I loved it. I wanted one, but it took several years before Santa brought me one too. Mine wasn't exotic like my sisters, but still, I liked it's boring blue and white design ok.
My sister played with hers a lot, Eventually some pieces got broken, but not mine. I was stingy with it and played with it very little, although I would take it out and set it up and look at it now and then. 😄 I don't know my age when I got it, although if I had wanted to spend lots of time, I could have gone back through Christmas pictures and probably found one where it showed with my Santa stuff, but I wasn't willing. I am guessing around 8 years old. Anyway, it has been with me all these years which makes it somewhere between 50 and 60 years old....probably closer to 60.
From time to time over the years, when I moved or rearranged storage, I might stop for a few and take it out again when I came across it, but nearly all of it's life has been spent in this box. Although it looks like it got wet at some time, I am not aware of it ever getting wet, so that part is a mystery.
You know I am doing a very deep clean out these days and I decided a few days ago, it was time for the tea set to go somewhere else that it might get more attention and maybe even get a piece or two broken finally. So I took it out, cleaned it up, carefully removed as much old tape as I could from the box and retaped it with nice clear tape. Then I set it out on my art desk to look at it one last time, then packed it up and got it ready to go out with the other donation things for last Saturday's Goodwill run.
Bye-bye old tea set! Bye-bye part of my childhood. I wasn't emotional about it at all when I got it all ready to go, but typing bye-bye made me wonder if I should be. Simply, it is just time and there is no one to leave it too, so hopefully whoever buys it for $2.99 (or whatever cheap price they put on it).... will play with it and have a lot of fun.
Now.... on to today, all these years later.
Sharing a private convo my Sis and I had today. Keeping in mind, I detest working overtime and only do it when they make me. This is the same sister that got the tea set first when we were kids.
"ME: Monday news. They had to take some folks off of doing the work I do before lunch because the work is running out.
Sister: But you worked OT last week . . . 🙄
ME: Yep!
ME again: Im wondering if there is anyone I can go slap
Sister: I bet there is . . . but if you start, you might not be able to stop . . .
ME: Probably not.
Sister: That first slap would feel SO good, and so would the next ones. 👊
ME: Im imagining that now"
🤣
You gotta luv that right??... two totally non-violent sisters talking about slapping the fire out of other people ! We think we are SO funny!
Ok.... that's my little contribution for Monday. Time to go see what else I can pack up to take to donate next Saturday and figure out what my supper might be.... and later play at my art table. The best part of my Monday is still ahead of me.
Hope everyone made it through their Monday ok.
Love you !
