Happy Friday.... finally !!
The weekend is here and it is the Easter holiday weekend. My company doesn't have a paid holiday for Easter, but many companies do, so some folks will have an extra long weekend to enjoy. My family will be having a meal together and it will be fun to see my sibs and some of their children and some of THEIR children. What fun.
This morning when I walked out of my workroom to take a break, as I came into my living room, the light was bright, but soft. It made me smile and wonder if anyone else had an untraditional living room.
Not sure if everyone calls it the same thing, but it normally is the room where you have your couch and some chairs if you have them and maybe even your TV. If you don't have an additonal den, it may be where you spend your lounging time.
I've had normal living rooms most of my life, but a few years back, when I moved into this little rental house that my Uncle next door owns, I decided to change it up. The living room and small dining area and kitchen are fairly open to each other, not exactly but mostly. It's like a lopsided U shape so you can't see the stove and kitchen sink from the front door 😄 but there are not doors that divide them off from each other.... anyway.
Several years ago I bought a used wooden dining table and there was a nice place for it to go. It went there for a while, but I also used it for painting and it was not near a window, so one day, I decided the best window in the house was the double one at the front of my living room. I pictured being able to paint or dine and enjoy seeing what all was going on outside.
I decided to move the living room things out and around and put the dining table right at the front window and I have loved it there every sense. I could pretend that having a "studio" was much more of a priority to me than a living room, but I'm not really that pretentious. I am not some amazing artist or anything like that, but I do love painting and the such and it is an avid hobby.
It's no telling what artsy things you'll find hanging around. This is a star made with many teenie tiny jingle bells. I don't leave it out because it was sort of a Christmas thing, I just like stars!
That is some of my wild and crazy paintings on the wall behind it.
I have a big floor lamp that has multiple arms with lights on each end and they hang over my art/dining table. Really great lights for painting or playing in papers after dark.
