I often say that "sometimes Life has happy surprises"- and I experienced that "happy surprise" just a few days ago. For various reasons, the past few weeks have been particularly challenging for me on several fronts. Long ago I learned that "there are good days and bad days", and that in Life "you have to take the good with the bad", so whenever the going gets rough, I remind myself of these lessons. I also believe that "a friend is simply a stranger I have yet to meet". This week that" stranger" became my friend, a "bad day" became a "good" one, and Life had a "happy surprise".
I would be remiss if I did not give a shout out to a well-loved, deeply respected, and very generous member of this amazing community! @Stellabelle came to my rescue this week with a generosity of spirit, and a trusting heart. In a nutshell, I was looking to make an online transaction, and for reasons unknown, the Universe conspired against me. I suddenly became unable to use my debit card when I needed to. I always say though, that "the Universe works in strange ways", and that "people are put in our paths that we are supposed to meet".
She simply went on blind faith. How incredibly refreshing! In this crazy frenzied world where almost nothing is sacred anymore, a virtual stranger materialized, and stepped up to the plate for me- happy to be helpful!
I am taking the time to write about this because I think that @Stellabelle set an amazing example of the "gold standard" of functioning and friendship. Her generosity caused me to stand up and take note of my own value system. Suffice it say, I realized that I have some work to do! I don't typically trust people as easily as she trusted me.. she took a risk with me. She didn't expect anything in return- but she will now have a new friend in me ( and I hope to be a good one to her)!
I am sharing this with the Steemit community at large, because I think @Stellabelle's action was noteworthy, and adds a really human touch to this network of people. In essence, her eagerness to help felt like a loving family member unconditionally offering support! Thank you @Stellabelle! I really believe if we all had a little more trust and a little more generosity of spirit, the world would be a better place! This also speaks to the notion of "paying it forward", and "in order to keepLove in our lives ... we have to give it away"!!!
