Yeah! You read that right, an Israeli food-tech and biotechnology company decided to break the news to the public recently, that they would be producing “clean meat” without the need of killing animals. Wow! How the heck would they do that?
This “clean meat” as instigated by SuperMeat CEO and co-founder Ido Savir, is to be grown in the lab with the help of extracted cells from live poultry birds.
The SuperMeat CEO in a statement said that;
“We’re proud that SuperMeat is at the forefront of the rapidly-evolving clean meat industry. Our team is comprised of a diverse group of top-tier scientists, food engineers and chefs, working together with the best production experts from the pharmaceutical industry to create a new generation of meat products that are sustainable, cost-efficient, animal-friendly, and of course – delicious.”
This would have an adverse effect in the meat industry. For it would end the need for mass production of animals, reduce water usage, greenhouse emissions and a couple of other things.
However, I have quite a few questions. Would you rather eat meat that was grown in the lab or real ones? Would these meat be cheaper or more expensive than current products?
I found this on their YouTube account:
