The process of conscious experience boils down to a continuous stream of the brain's best guesses at interpreting the incoming perceptual inputs. It is inherently probabilistic and depends heavily on prior training of interpreting the environment. As such, conscious experience is decoupled from actual reality, and it paints a picture of a simulated reality instead.
