I think some of y'all misunderstand where I'm coming from.
If I thought the United States government was capable of faking the Moon Landing, controlling the outcome of every election, or secretly implanting microchips into Covid vaccinations, I would be a total statist.
Seriously.
If I thought our government functioned that well, I would be comfortable entrusting it with just about everything.
I'm not a political libertarian because I believe the government is evil, I'm a political libertarian because I believe the government is incompetent.
Statism in practice works a lot less like George Orwell's 1984 and a lot more like Terry Gilliam's Brazil. It's not a collection of mastermind overlords. It's a clown-posse of generally well-meaning people who are just as likely to slip on a banana peel as implement a successful policy.
The people involved in the government aren't controlling our lives, indoctrinating our children, or hiding aliens in Area 51. I'm not saying they wouldn't if they could. I'm saying they're literally incapable of it.
It's farcical to believe that even the most qualified experts are capable of making broad decisions for an enormous, diverse society with zillions of individual needs, wants, and ideals.
You might say, "well then why do you trust the government to handle the vaccine rollout?"
I don't.
Not because I think the vaccine is attached to some evil government conspiracy, but because I think they'll do an excellent job of diminishing public trust while curtailing individual liberties.
THAT is why I don't trust the government.
Some of y'all seem to think Joe Biden's Administration works like the illuminati or something. I hate to break it to you, but reality isn't that exciting. I wish we were governed by technocratic geniuses who could make all the perfect decisions and guide society with crafty expertise. But that isn't what we have. Never has been and never will be.
Go ahead and get a Covid vaccination. Stop making a big deal out of it. Sure, it's not fully FDA approved, etc. etc. but there aren't any evil overlords out there trying to control you. Yea, yea Bill Gates talked about the need for population reduction for years before abruptly endorsing the vaccine. Bill Gates is also just another mortal and you're ascribing far too much credit to him or anyone else if you think they can pull something that nefarious off on this wide a scale.
You're governed by morons.
But if you refuse to take the vaccine purely off the assumption that you're actually governed by evil puppet-masters, then you're an even bigger moron.
