I have heard some things about the famous ThePirateBay (which I am a huge fan of) using the clients CPU power (without permission) for mining crypto while the client is online on thepiratebay.org. Not sure how much of it is true - have visited TPB so many times and never had any performance spikes while on the site, however - technique described in this article is real so be aware of your internet visits and always make some research before trying new torrent websites.
