On Friday last week the carpenter and my helper spent the day milling up all this trim for the bathroom and the hallway.
On Monday the carpenter took me to the lumber store so I could pick out the paint for the front porch ceiling. Push has come to shove for that project. When I was out working in the New South garden on Sunday, I could hear birds up in the rafters checking it out. We have to get the ceiling up before they build nests. I have the beadboard for it. It just needs primed and painted. The color is called Egg Blue.
Then we got the truck and went up on Horse Mountain to get the timbers for the new office. The old ones have checked badly in the last 3 months (after being there for 30 years) and must be replaced.
The badly checking beams
When we got back the carpenter insulated this wall and got the rest of the sheetrock on it.
Then he built the door frame for the chase.
And the door frame from the laundry room, for the little door.
He had the wood, and was on a roll, so he built the door frame and wall for the cedar closet. That will be the last room finished on this floor.
Tomorrow he and I will get the last sheet of sheetrock on the hall ceiling. He has a pile of wood to cut up and will be staining the trim. Once that’s done, the beadboard can be primed. That will be painted on Wednesday and be ready to be put up on Friday.
