On Friday morning, the carpenter gave the back porch floor its final cleaning and I went out and washed down the door so he could paint it. While it was drying he put the casters on the attic box. It rolls so easily now. I still have to lift it with my back to get it started, but it’s easy to do now.
Then he put screws into the stair treads as the nails had started to work up. That finished the attic project. Once he got the first coat on the door, he went down with a great hunk of steel wool and plugged up the old gas vent hole. I think that’s how the mice were getting in.
Another coat of paint and he started setting the door stops finally for the cellar door and the attic door.
His helper didn’t come on Friday, I guess he’s still sick. I don’t know if he will come on Monday, but I need to get the mulch hay. The carpenter intends to finish the punchlist on Monday, I think.
