Monday was the last good day for most of this week. This veteran spent Veterans Day finishing this valley by himself, as usual.
He tried to get this barge rafter into place by himself, but couldn’t do it. It’s too heavy for me to help. So he will wait until Wednesday, after Tuesday’s rain, and hope everything is not coated with ice. It’s to only hit 30F on Wednesday, so it won’t be melting. My son will be here to help him.
There were 3 of the wooden keepers on the ends of the supports, but one came off when he tried to put the rafter up.
He has 4 of these to put up, 2 on each end of the gable ends. He was very tired when he finished the valley, so he took the afternoon off.
Tuesday when it is raining, he goes east for 2 reasons:
- To make sure the ocean is still there
- To pick up 5 rare fishing rod blanks he came across online
When he not building a house, he builds custom deep sea rods. He closed the shop this spring because he couldn’t do both. The shop will be relocated under the living room, a much bigger space, and he’s hoping to expand into custom bamboo rods. To see his work:
He has a website, but it doesn’t show his work now, as he’s not building:

Me, I was just being sick and doing laundry.
