The carpenter was working on his own on Friday. He got this set of shelf supports done first.
Then he decided to tackle the box shelves on the south wall. I ended up with 4 of them. I may put one box up high and leave the shelf with the outlet open, more or less.
Then he built the corner shelf supports for the west wall and started the shelf supports by the door.
When I paid him I realized I’d run out of money for any more construction. I’d warned him 2 weeks ago we were getting pretty low. So until I can figure out how to get more to cover further work, it stopped on Friday afternoon.
I have enough saved to build the woodshed addition, I hope. But there’s not going to be any more work on the house until that’s completely finished.
So this is a new worry, how to finish the house… And the carpenter is sad to leave this cushy job he’s had for over a year, less than ½ mile from his house. It’s been good for me I think, to have someone here each day throughout that first year of grieving.
But it’s become stressful, having so many people here each day and having to manage them all. I think I might look forward to working on my own, something I’ve not really done in 18 months.
So a new chapter begins…
