The laminated beam is the one with the writing on it
He had to wait for the frost to burn off on Saturday morning as we’d had another hard one. He had me help him get the first rafter in place, right above the tree branch.
Then he set the laminated beam that will support all the valley rafters. It’s got writing on it. It’s about the same size as the rafters, but far heavier and longer. It will carry all the weight of the rafters, roofing and snow loads in the valley.

There was the usual readjusting of rafter placement, and a few miscuts, so he managed to get this many up on Saturday.
He hopes to finish them and fill in the ends on Sunday. Then there’s the porch to do, and the window area on the existing house to finish.
