The production of HF will be conducted under controlled temperature (An air conditioning will be installed to control temperature inside the growth chamber at 16 to 27˚C) and natural illumination that enable to germinate and then producing a 200 to 250mm long vegetative green shoot with interwoven roots per growth cycle (5 to 8) days. ________________________________________________________________________________
Important steps and processes of HF production
Step 1: weighing and soaking
Weigh of barley seed to exact amount that is stipulated for the tray that trays that can handle.
Put it in a container and soaked them in water for not more than 4 hours.
Step 2: Drain and Incubate
After the soaking,
Drain all the water from the bucket and replace the lid of the bucket
Pierce some holes in the lid as the germinating seeds require oxygen
Incubate the seed for 2 days in the bucket by sprinkling a handful of water into the bucket at least for 48 hours.
Step 3: ‘Plant’ on clean trays.
After the 48 hours of incubation, transfer the seed in to a clean aluminum tray and spread seeds on to the tray in an even mat with hands.
Place the trays on a slope, perforated end of the trays on the lower side of the slope.
