Today World Consumer Rights Day is today (March 15th). Since 1983, the world around Bangladesh is celebrated. This year's theme is 'ensuring greater transparency in digital market system'.
Like every year, detailed program has been taken to mark the World Consumer Rights Day in Bangladesh.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages on this occasion.
The President said in his message, the government has enacted the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 to ensure consumer rights. The people's representatives, the employees of the Republic, and the collective effort of the public are required to implement this law. "
He said, "Bangladesh is now enjoying the benefits of digital market through the government's relentless efforts. E-mail and social media support is being taken for consumer complaints and remedies.
The Prime Minister said, "The government has enacted the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009, which is an important law for the consumers of the country.
The initiative for digital market management has been taken. Different organizations of the government are working to bring transparency and fairness in the digital market.
The Prime Minister expressed the hope that all the officials and employees of the National Consumer Protection Department will play a proactive role in achieving the benefits of protecting consumer rights in every home.
Meanwhile, the Voluntary Consumers' Training and Awareness Society (consumer), has demanded to ensure quality standard safe internet services at an affordable price on the occasion.
