One thing I figured out recently is that being a GM is hard, or maybe it’s just me? Living up to the expectations of the group puts a lot of pressure on me, especially seeing how I am not a very experienced game master.
I have been used to playing with a mapper, but it doesn’t seem like that is the norm anymore, and one of the expectations of the group is maps and miniatures. So I suppose I have to make some maps?
Much of my discomfort comes from not knowing if my preparations are for naught. How do I prepare for places that my players go to if I have not made anything for that area?
With ‘theatre of the mind’, you can concoct something on the fly, but this is seemingly more difficult when it comes to using dungeon maps.
So, I have created my first ever dungeon map - and hope to whatever deity that controls my game that it will be used. Some mistakes were made, of course, but I suspect it can be edited out using some piece of software or the likes.
After a quick google search on how to draw maps, I found some tips by a certain Ferris from Creator Consortium. I will leave the link for anybody that is interested here.
Mash it up, craft a story, make it interesting. Enjoy!
