My 'Finland' themed -contest for the celebration of 100th Anniversary of Finland is now over and even though it wasn't as big as I envisioned I still very much consider it a success with 26 resteems and enough entry's to fill the top 3!
Thank you for all the participants, resteemers and upvoters who were part of this first adventurous contest of mine!
But off we go to the 3 winners decided by I,
:
1st Winner:
Kalevala Rune IX (NSFW-ish)
's drawing is an illustration of Finland's folklore poetry work of Kalevala which is considered our national epic; The drawing illustrates a mythical event described in Kalevala's 9th rune: The birth of Iron. Actually, I had earlier made a post of telling the exact same rune as a short story, and I used an earlier prototype of the very same picture of
in it!
My passion for understanding Finland's and the Baltic-Finnic history and mythology, this was a no-brainer for the grand prize.
Congratulations for the grand prize of 4.653 STEEM and thank you for the awesome picture!
2nd Winner:
A weekend trip to Helsinki - 100th Anniversary of Finland
Come join for his trip he recently made into Finland's capital, Helsinki where you can find the Helsinki cathedral (that in the picture), some good coffee (which Finns consume a lot) and the Unesco Heritage site of Suomenlinna fortress just for a 15 minute ferry away from the Helsinki city center, and much more!
Congratulations! 2.791 STEEM will be yours.
3rd Winner:
A ode for Finland @celestal
In the "ode for Finland" shares some of his memories way back from her childhood about a bus trip she made through Scandinavia to Russia with Finland, of course, in the middle to cross.
Heading to north she came across wildlife like reindeer and Laplanders(?) in their tents. Resting for the night in a village with cabins, and traditional glass, metal and wood works she became familiar with the Finnish sauna and even further north observing the midnight sun from beyond the arctic circle.
Congratulations! 1.861 STEEM will be yours.
Honorable mention:
A picture of tonttu, helper of Santa with a brush ready to paint! There were only 4 entry's so leaving one out felt unfortunate; furthermore, Santa lives in Finland, Korvatunturi, so his helper shouldn't be left out ;)
