This Sunday the Cycling World Championships are organised in Innsbruck, Austria. Time for a contest!
The contest
The idea of the contest is pretty simple: the first one to predict the winner wins two shares of Steem Basic Income. After the stage I will announce the winners and buy them the shares.
Final moment to give your predictions is Saturday September 29th at 23:59 CEST, so the day before the race.

The race
This year the race is very challenging. The start is near the German border at Kufstein and the race starts with a relatively flat part towards Innsbruck. After that there are seven local laps with a 8 km 5.7% climb to Igls. In the final there is another climb of which the top is just a couple of kilometers before the finish. In total the riders have to overcome more than 5,000 altitude meters in this 265 km long race.

The candidates
Actually it is hard to say who the candidates are this year. Peter Sagan has been the champion for three years in a row now, but the profile of the race looks a bit too hard for him. I expect either a climber or an attacker to win the race. So it could either be somebody like Simon Yates, who just won the Vuelta, Miguel Ángel López or Enric Mas, who were the best climbers there. On the other hand we might also see some of the more "Classic" riders perform well. I'm then thinking about riders like Alejandro Valverde, who won the Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège a couple of times, Daniel Martin, Thibaut Pinot and Philippe Gilbert.
Will one of those riders win, or do you expect another rider to surprise with the victory? Place your pick in a comment below and get a chance to win lifetime upvotes!
