And so once again the contest rolls over to next week, there being only one entry this week by . Big thanks to him for his contribution, and I recommend that everyone go and read it here.
YOUR FEEDBACK ON THIS CONTEST WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED
For those who are just now familiarizing themselves with this contest, the premise is for you to listen to an instrumental composition of mine, then write a short story based on it, by the deadline midnight EST Friday that week. Top three are picked by me, posted on Saturday for a vote, and the following Monday winner takes all, for a 100% share of the SBD from the previous Monday's contest post. NOTE: This is a change from previous rules, where the top three share the SBD in descending percentages. I've decided to simplify things here.
Less than three entries and the contest and rewards roll over to next week. Contest pool so far is .882 SBD, with last Monday's earnings (Feb 19th) added when they show up in my rewards tab.
THE NEXT POST WILL BE ON MONDAY FEB 26TH, BY 5 PM
My music has drawn a mixed reaction, from a rather small sample pool so far. Some people have expressed a like for it and others, well, not so much. This is further complicated by the fact that those responses have varied from week to week - the positive responses for my initial pieces and the negative for more recent examples.
Most of what I've shown so far has been very psychedelic effects laden work, which is perhaps off putting to a lot of people. Especially if you're trying to compose a story in your head while listening; maybe something simpler would be less distracting. So I think my next composition will be not quite so overwhelming in this regard...
Another possible obstacle is the click through rate.
I notice that for the site Dsound, there is no imbed option so far. And in my experience on Steemit, when you click on a link, it does not open a new tab. Clicking off site on the same tab can make a user nervous, particularly when logged in to a blockchain. Playback issues with Dsound further complicate things.
I tried to deal with this last week by including a Soundcloud link and imbed. When I first joined Steemit my Soundcloud imbeds worked fine, now that seems to be a problem as well.
What I will do with this Monday's post will be to use an imbed for a YouTube video featuring this week's composition, that way you can listen to it without leaving Steemit at all.
So what do you think? Will these changes make a difference to you? Do you have any suggestions on how to improve this contest? Please leave your comments below.
