Later, searching for very specific information about travelling between countries on bus, I found this article of a Venezuelan girl explaining how she did it and she even talked about the specific thing I was searching for. I then began to check out steemit profiles and found some interesting articles and even short stories. So then, I decided to create my account.
My confirmation SMS didn’t arrive so I asked a friend on other country to receive it for me but I lost that account because I didn’t save my password. So I quit the thing for a month. But I think Steemit was hunting me because every search I made, the first results were from there. So I asked the same favor to another friend and voilá! Here I am!
Let me say that when we begin here, it is extremely difficult to get noticed if you don’t know someone who can guide you and/or help you. You have to read a lot about how things work out here. So that’s what I did, since I hadn’t anyone inside this platform. And after three or five posts, I got my first big upvote! It was from @Cervantes. They upvoted a short story I write about a very common and painful situation we live in my country. So I went from 0.01$ to 18$ and I thought Wow, I’m on the spotlight! Maybe this is actually that good and true.
That was on april and right now, on august, I have just received two upvotes from them. I know, there’s more whales and dolphins in the sea, just that they’re the biggest spanish community, my first language. But yeah, I have received a lot of feedback, upvotes and more important, I’ve had real fun here.
So, after my long story about how I got here and all that:
Why am I still blogging in Steemit?
Because I have fun here. Because I’ve always wanted to write and here I can do it and receive feedback from actual writers. Because in here I’m more likely to keep learning about cryptocurrencies and the blockchain. Because Steemit compiles all the social media in the blockchain: we have our own Instagram (Steepshot), our own Crowdfunding site (Fundition), our Youtube (Dtube and Dlive), our blog (Steemit), our Soundcloud (Dsound), our own meme sharing site (Dmania) and even our own Porn site (Dporn) and they’re even better. We can monetize without involving ads!
So yeah, I think this is the best thing that happened to the internet and I don’t have to get rich using this platforms to know it.
I could be on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter reading people’s dumb stuff and sharing that dumb stuff only wasting time between a few laughs. But I’m on Steemit because here, I can read actual authors from which I can learn from, sharing actual great stuff and get paid for it. Even if I just earn pennies, I think is worth it!
