Hello Steemit!
Welcome to the Steemit Potpourri Treasure Edition Contest #3 - Writing!
In today's contest, you need to check out the story below and complete it in your very own words! Are you ready for the challenge?
Awesome. Let's get started!
The Story
You are visiting a cousin of yours in the country. Your spouse and your two kids are with you. Your older kid is 10 years old and the younger one is 7 years old. One afternoon, you are taking a walk in the countryside, when all of a sudden your older child cries "Watch out, snake!" You look down and see there's a small snake slithering very fast, just near your right foot. You freeze instantly.
**
Your younger child, who's all of seven years, takes one look and says calmly 'don't worry, it's just a harmless brown snake.' and resumes walking. Even as she's speaks, the snake quickly slithers away with no harm done. Thank goodness it was not a venomous snake, but wait, how did your younger one know about the snake?
**
You live in a city and there are not many snakes there. Your spouse questions your younger child, who replies, "Why, I read about it on the internet, on a website called Steemit.com. There's a wild man there who befriends snakes, frogs, turtles and such other animals and even takes photos and videos with them. He posts these on Steemit along with a whole lot of information to help others identify these animals and stay aware. I came to know about the brown snake there". You are speechless.
**
"Hey, look over there, that's a speckled kingsnake" she calls out. "That's also harmless if you leave it alone." You look and then continue walking still speechless.
**
Suddenly, she grabs your hand, points out to a big snake resting some distance away and says "now that one is a slightly poisonous one, especially for children, it's called a pygmy rattlesnake, it's got those cat eyes, let's get away from here before it sees us."
**
You take one look and all of you hurriedly move away.
**
Your younger child saved your day with her knowledge of snakes. But, at the same time, you feel she is too young to be going online on her own.
Will you censure your daughter now, go back home, and change your computer password so she doesn't log on without your knowledge ever again?
Or will you buy your daughter her favourite ice-cream now, get online on Steemit as soon as you reach home to check out the wild man and learn a thing or two from him yourself?
Or would you do something else? What will you do next? Think and write in as many words you want. The more the better.
