Hi, I read a case study years ago about the Limitations of Conventional Wisdom.
A lot of companies & governments use this to reduce their liabilities.
That is, we did the best we knew at the time. When products used Asbestos, Radiation, cultural/religious limitations (such as taking indigenous babies away from their mothers to be raised by a "better" culture/race).
Anyway, one of the case studies was about TORPEDO fuel or lubricant causing HIV.
The US Navy, I believe, found that there was a high incidence of HIV or AIDS among their SUBMARINERS.
This was in the early days of HIV/AIDS and how it was transmitted was not really understood.
So, the US Navy spent millions of dollars undertaking a, cause & effect, investigation. It concluded that the Sailors must have contracted it from the TORPEDO fuel/lubricants as that was the "commonality" between the sailors.
Well, I am trying to find the original study/investigation.
I have tried some google searches but I cannot pinpoint such an investigation.
Can anyone find it? I like examples of ignorance by authorities.
On a side note, I am watching some of the apologies that Bill Clinton did in the 90's, and how much double meaning he gave to it. I like his apology that the government and organisations undertook Radiation experiments on people. Also, the dropping of radioactive material on the city of Philadelphia, is always a good one.
Governments concern is for the people? Or for its own existence?
