Can You Blame Them?
Thousands of people have been searching for information on Google about the 'Corona Beer Virus' thinking that there is a link between the Coronavirus and the well-known beer company.
One bar location in NZ allegedly wanted to take the opportunity to market some Corona beer specials recently, "while the pandemic lasts" posting advertisements to social media, and they've already faced severe backlash for the move.
There have been an alarming number of searches online for terms like 'beer virus' and 'Corona beer virus' and they've overwhelmingly been originating from regions like Arizona, Hawaii, Idaho, Connecticut, Nebraska, Arkansas, Iowa, Nevada, and Massachussetts.
Huge Impact On Beer Sales
The coronavirus is having a major impact on the economy, especially for alcohol sales at bars and restaurants etc. People are obviously less likely right now to go out and meet friends, hang out in popular and very social places, to try and avoid getting sick.
Beer sales in China specifically have been majorly impacted by the outbreak.
They are currently looking at cutting costs in an effort to try and mitigate that impact that the coronavirus is having.
Corona is hoping that people are going to be wise enough to ignore the seeming link between the two.
