The end of 2022 sparkles with controversy.
Last year, we faced the establishment driven narrative about Bitcoin's energy usage. That was proven to be entirely negligible. The researcher cited was on a payroll for the establishment, and even Elon Musk was happy to tweet along(how that tune has turned upside down!).
Then in 2022, Non Fungible Tokens took a pointless beating on Reddit/Tumblr/Imgur/Twitter. But the reasons were largely empty canned phrases provided to them by the Coca Cola of thinking: Twitter hashtags and MSNBC type push button journalists.
Meanwhile, the same crowd of "thinking people" were secretly purchasing "tradeable digital cards" on NBA Topshots' marketplace, and oh-just-a-few-more CryptoPunks on OpenSea.
Now with Artificial Intelligence arts erupting with fantastical, jealousy-inducing artistic wonders on a daily basis -- it's breakneck pace has sent heads spinning left and right. And the loud, obnoxiously violent crowd of anti-ai are convinced the days of Diet Coke freedom are numbered, so they've put on their metal bucket helmets, clasped on their straw armor (configured for greatest protection using duct tape) and put on their large extra-woke pink sunglasses.
It's battle tiem, Quadruple-Vaxxed-Bill-Gates-Epstein-Ocasio-Cortez green energy style.
Funniness, aside, Disney is heading up the initiative said to "take down AI art". They want artist content removed from training data sets. They want celebrity pictures taken out of training data sets and... they also want to put in a lever in order to censor art styles using a pay-to-print AI-scanned upload system on online works of art. But the hypocrisy and sheer mind-numbing Alamo-ness of it is incredible. Allow us to explain.
Disney, if you haven't heard, has long plagiarized artists, even rather noteworthy, well known names.
For example, Osamu Tezuka created a really sweet cartoon series featuring a lion named Kimba....And (read this part in a sarcastic tone:) Disney was originally inspired to create Lion King, featuring nearly identically named protagonist, villains that look identical and more:
.....And this is just the tip of the iceberg for Disney's long colored history.
Disney's intent with the new law against creative styles is to put in place a censorship system that enables them to charge per piece for artworks created by individuals and published online. No one would be allowed to post images unless it had gone through -- get this -- an AI algorithm that would compare to Disney's catalogues of properties...and styles of art.
We felt the need to repeat their wet dream so that point really settles. Disney actually wants to copyright STYLE. It is an unenforcable desire, yet there it is. Life has found a way at Disney.
I believe Bizzaro world has been sending a signal to Disney execs from an alternate universe, asking for them to come back to where they belong.
In the current post-2022 Covid-era, tribal superstition driven tirades and witchhunts are the norm, and anything less would be unusual.
Witch hunts against artist's for their art form, fits the bill for a century wherein journalism is so persecuted, the lifespan of a journalist has actually dipped...
So to put a fine point on the description of affairs at the end of 2022, it all just sucks. And if you thought the last season of Game of Thrones was bad and ruined the epic, wait till you get a load of 2023.
