INCI is an abbreviation of the words- International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients, it is a system for naming the composition of each cosmetic product launched on the European Union market. The declaration must be on the packaging or on the leaflet of each cosmetic. The goal of the system is to unify the the international naming of cosmetic.
The INCI system uses names of chemical compounds in English and Latin names of plants. The useful information is that the ingredients used in the largest amount are placed at the beginning of the composition list and the next with their decreasing amount in the product.
Substances that constitute less than 1% of the capacity of a cosmetic product may be entered at the end of the composition in a way that isn’t coordinated by the manufacturer.
Thanks to the knowledge of chemicals, you can choose cosmetics with consciousness. Many of them on the market have unnecessary, allergenic compositions that badly affect our skin. Marketing of the cosmetics market can fill us with its beautiful packaging and the declaration of the naturalness of the cosmetic. This is usually different and a product named natural hasn’t have natural composition.
There is a full list of ingredients allowed to use, which I will analyze in the next posts.
