There are many choices that we will do for the weekend, one of which is to stay and relax in a place away from the crowds. if you find a cottage to stay on the slopes of the hills, above the cliffs of the river and its clear river, then it is the best choice.
My weekend break this time, took place in the upper reaches of the Bahorok River-North Sumatra. Not too far from Medan City, approximately 2 hours by road and the road is very good for all types of vehicles to pass. However, from the secure car park, I had to walk for approximately 45 minutes to the inn and it was a path that no motorized vehicle could pass.

I will share with weekend lovers on #theweekend 3 reasons I chose a weekend getaway in the upper reaches of the Bahorok River :
- The combination of mountains and rivers has positive energy.
Of course it is very good for our lives, here we only hear the gurgling of water, the chirping of birds, the sound of wild animals and so on. - Far from pollution and very calming.
Unlike in urban areas, it is very healthy here, the air is much cooler and fresher, because here there are still very many green trees, so there is still abundant fresh air (oxygen). - Guaranteed privacy
One of the things that is very pleasant is that our privacy is maintained and guaranteed, because the access to the inn is with a fairly heavy footpath and there are no people passing by.
The reasons above made me choose a different atmosphere to stay 1 night at the upper reaches of the Bahorok River which is already well known to foreign tourists.
The inn is right on top of a river cliff where the water is clear with a very swift current. This inn is named "Pondok Kayu" or the local people call it "Pondok Tebing". As the name implies, all the building materials are made of wood with brown paint and stand on a river bank. There are only 3 rooms and every weekend it is always full of people staying. So, I've booked the top 1 room since 3 months ago to get a better view.
Each room has a capacity of 2 people with modern facilities in it. There is 1 bedroom, a kitchen set, a family room complete with a large TV monitor and in the bathroom there is also a hot shower. This inn does not use air conditioning because it is in the upper area of the Bahorok River that the air is cool, even during the day.
From the terrace of the rooms on the three floors, we can immediately see the rushing river water flowing between the big rocks. The view across from the inn is a very beautiful mountain full of trees and shrubs. Every now and then you will see a herd of monkeys hanging from the trees and the sound of chirping various types of wild birds can be heard.
We can swim as much as we want by choosing a safe location or we can drift from a more upstream location by using a large car tire provided by the inn manager. This drifting activity is very fun while enjoying the river ecosystem and tropical forest on the right and left of the river.
Very complete natural atmosphere and perfect for relaxation from the busy routine of a noisy city.
