In the prior installment of this series we looked at products of the American educational system (although to be fair many were likely homeschooled) who believed that relying entirely on supernatural protection from a virus was more sensible than public health measures like masking and vaccination.
Jesus is apparently not actually more powerful than Covid, as it turns out! I don’t know why this should surprise us, when his father was bested by iron chariots. An alternative explanation I have yet to see any of these people consider is that maybe Jesus doesn’t like them, because they’re awful representatives of his religion and do not adhere to his behavioral admonitions.
But what do I know? A non-believer can’t criticize the internal consistency of a worldview he doesn’t believe in, as I often hear them say. Even as they criticize the internal consistency of Islam, or Mormonism. I do wonder though if, like the holocaust, the black plague and the Lisbon earthquake, this will be an experience that shakes the faith of people who suppose God intervenes directly in our lives and protects the faithful from harm.
As before, the format is left to right, with the confident sassy memes about Covid being a hoax/overblown at left and the death announcement either on the right or at bottom. Without further delay, please enjoy this gallery of pious folly:
That’s all for this time. Let me know if you spot any doubles, they all share the same dozen or so memes so it’s hard to catch repeats. Stay tuned for the next installment, depending on whether the surviving family members learn their lesson about the importance of protecting themselves and their loved ones from communicable illness. If not, I’ll be there with the camera rolling as they dive head first into the disposal chute, chanting their spells of warding all the way down.
