Once again, in terms of being a postie the week’s been pretty boring. I’m working on a post about the mitre saw station I more or less completed on my long weekend. It was very nice having a 5 day weekend.
This week is another short week thanks to Easter Monday and having to work a 4 day week. I only worked 3 days because the fourth day was actually Easter Monday because even though I didn’t work it I got paid for it. It’s an accounting thing. Not complaining though because it’s nice to get some time off.
The lowdown on the lockdown is that it all seems to be working. The government has announced the plans for Alert Level 3. It’s basically what I thought it would be in that more businesses will open, construction will resume but shops would need to use online ordering. I think it will be a good thing to force some businesses kicking and screaming into the 21st century but it’s going to be scary for some of them.
The numbers are looking good. We’re still getting more and more people getting the virus but the numbers getting better are much more than the people getting sick.
Sadly though 9 people are dead. They are all over 70 and had serious health problems anyway so while it sucks that they are gone it’s good news that the general public aren’t dying. That’s encouraging. Even sadder is that one of the dead was the father of the groom of New Zealand’s largest cluster which occurred at a wedding in Bluff. He was also in the rest home where 6 of the 9 people have died. Unfortunately there are 20 sick at that same rest home so we’ll expect the death rate to climb I guess.
