On June 20, the San Francisco Brewers Guild held their monthly Meet the Brewers night at Social Kitchen and Brewrey in San Francisco. This month, however, we were in for an extra treat. Kim Sturdavant, the creator of the Brut IPA beer style, answered questions from Alyssa Pereira, the journalist from the SF Chronicle who wrote about this style and brought it to national attention.
If you're not familiar with Brut IPA, it's a super dry IPA made with an enzyme that converts unfermentable starches to fermentable sugars. It has moderately low bitterness, a light mouth feel, effervescent, dry, and a fruity (not grassy) aroma. For more details, watch the video and learn from the brewer who invented the style.
