I just joined Steemit recently and I wanted to share how I create custom art. When I create a custom Mandala painting I take the colors, ideas and inspirations I'm given and go with the flow. Even as I'm creating it I don't really know 100% what it will look like in the end. I work intuitively, as I create one piece of the pattern, I get idea for the next piece of the pattern. As I lay down one color, it influences what color to lay down next.
I usually let the client tell me why they want a custom Mandala, what ideas they want represented as a Mandala, what colors. Some clients have a deep meaningful story behind it, some have a more "I want it to match the couch and the drapes" approach. I can use your favorite colors, a theme like a season or emotion, I can take inspiration from a song lyric or picture. Some clients ask me for a more "flowing" patterns, some a more "angular" type thing. Usually once we chat a bit about what you're thinking of I can get a good idea where to go with it. In the end it all comes together as a unique collaboration of your ideas and my artistic intuition and abilities!
This is the most recent custom painting I finished, a 24 x 24 inch acrylic painting called "Cosmic Splash". The client wanted some pastel colors and some greens and blues to represent sky, water and forest. I also made sure it was OK that I included some yellows and light oranges to make the other colors "pop" and to add some extra intensity to the overall vibe. This is what he had to say about the finished piece - "Painting arrived!! We're in love with it. Fabulous!! "
