During a trip to Kyoto
I sat underneath a peculiar lamp while sipping hot coffee. Before departing to see the various temples and other historical landmarks, I remained seated and stared at the lamp for a while. I really took my time... the shape was so appealing.
A simple lamp in Kyoto
I've got three fingers held firmly on the pulse of the world. The assault on the mind will only intensify as a cloud of Nothing creeps over us.
The lamp signals a sacred space is near, a place of rest during the arduous journey upwards. From the penetrating warmth of the lamp I draw my shield, my barrier, my own candle in the dark. Not a bubble, but a suit of armor for the soul.
Ah, art, sweet nourishment.
No politics, no agenda, simply maintain structure and form.

Reduction
Framework:
With a 0.3mm mechanical pencil, compass, and ruler. The entire concept was derived from the golden mean. I follow the ratio, and the picture draws its self.
Color scheme development:
I always color on rice paper laid over the geometry.
The naked image:
Several phases of creation(pencil) and destruction(eraser) lead me to a unique image.
It's always hard to move on from this stage... so many possibilities.
Careful layering of colors:
Start with the lightest colors first. It's easy to erase or layer over them if you get carried away.
