Hello, Steemit!
Recently I decided to try myself in a qualitatively new creative process - hand-painted clothing.
I decided to make bright picture. For the drawing, I used acrylic paints "Decola" in a set of 12 colors and flat synthetic brushes from 1 to 5 numbers.
Look what a nice blue owl I got.
So, some steps of creative process.
Since for me this is the first test, I decided not to take risks and took already having a favorite T-shirt of gray color.
I drew the contours of the owl on a sheet of paper, then I pinpointed some control points and with a soft pencil I drew the basic contour lines of the drawing on the T-shirt.
I began to paint the picture. I drew with the main blue color the plumage on the head, back and tail of the owl. Drew with blue color the dark places of the picture. Acrylic dries not instantly, when the paint is applied there is a mixture of colors and a gradient effect of the shade transition appears.
For light feathers I took a silvery paint, it will look calmer than white. I painted feathers on the breast, wings, and places near the eyes. By smear movements tried to show the direction of the feathers.
Then I entered into the picture contrasting dark colors.
There is no brown color in my set, I mixed a bright orange color with a blue paint and painted the feathers on the wings and tail. With bright orange, red and yellow colors drew owl's eyes and beak, with black color drew the edge of owl's eyes and beak. I added blue paint in violet color and drew shadows on the area around the eyes and white feathers on the wings and tail.
I emphasized the dark wings with black lines, painted white patches in the eyes of the owl. On the back in shallow plumage I added yellow circles, underlining the edges of the feathers with a thin brush. Made feathers on the breast more relief, ruffle, drew with dark purple translucent strokes the shadows.
Then I painted the branch on which the owl is sitting. For color I mixed violet, red and dark blue paints, drew red berries with red color and give them volume by blue paint.
Finally, I emphasized some details, made the final touches. When drying, acrylic paints become less bright, so I emphasized some places by repeated staining. The drawing is ready.
Now my favorite T-shirt has become even more favorite)
