A memory of a quick trip to Orvieto.
I took this shot in the morning in the Cathedral, a very beautiful example of Gothic architecture and art.
The construction of the church was started in 1290 by Pope Nicholas IV with a Romanesque style at first but, before the end of the century , Giovanni di Uguccione introduced the first Gothic forms.
The works continued over the years, until they were completed only in the second half of the 1500s by Ippolito Scalza, who built three of the four spiers of the facade at the end.
Inside there are two masterpieces of Renaissance Art: the frescoes of Beato Angelico, Benozzo Gozzi and completed by Luca Signorelli in the Chapel of San Brizio and the chapel of the Corporale entirely frescoed by Ugolino di Prete Ilario.
The same Ugolino frescoed, with many aids and starting from 1370, the Major Chapel of the church with stories from the life of Mary .
I really recommend visiting this place!
