Welp I been a drankin and I got good reason to imbibe. I was told the highly acclaimed documentarian Ken Burns has made a PBS television special pertaining to country music. I'm deathly afraid what you good people out there think when I utter the label of country and music together.
I assure you as a native to East Tennessee, you know, whiskey, moonshine, Bluegrass, Hank Williams Sr. and a union hold that fought and killed their own cousins that grew up on slave owning plantations just across the Tennessee river where the land was flat and fertile, that I know a cotton picking thing or two about real country music.
Truth be told the music is a hybrid of Irish, Gaelic, and Germanic traditions infused with African instrumentation, call and response choruses and rhythms and tempos that are trance like and very twerkable. I ain't talmbout "talking about" no achy breaky Billy Ray Cyrus bullshit here and as the only true hillbilly I know of here on this international platform I feel it's my damn duty to be an ambassador to real country music.
The same genre that bled into the blues, which birthed rock n roll and arguably everything that's listenable about modern music im here to show you the way.
May the circle be unbroken, I'll fly away!
schwhooooeee that's a southern American exaltation of fully realised natural ecstasy.. Well as natural as ethanol anyway..
Ye ain't got no alternative here cept to get on that spotify and look for Ken Burns History of Country Music... I wished I could serve yuns up with some of that sweet ol rocky top elixir known as white lightning and be your guide to this slice of Americana to give you a picture as clear as the liquor into the misunderstood culture of southern Appalachian life.
I'm certainly taken aback as I sip on beers crafted in the style of my mutt bloodline. Perhaps if I breakdown my lineage y'all will get a glimpse of what true roots country is all about. I'm an Irish, dutch, english Scottish, german, cherokee, Italian mutt which the latter had some moorish proclivities that has imbued me with a touch more African blood than the average Caucasian homosapien that hails from the evolutionary agreed upon seat of the soul of humanity...
So if you're so inclined I promise you that you won't regret giving this heart wrenching bit of music history a try. I'm purposely not leaving any links so you feel the spirit of making do with what u got. That's the pulse of country and it binds us all, that's coming from a hillbilly in SE Asia..
